FedEx shipping software write back from Sage MAS 90 or MAS 200

By Wayne Schulz • February 7th, 2009

Super user Louie Araiza who is a 90Minds member and the Director of Technology and Information at Safety Vision,  chimes in this morning with some interesting news for users of the free software provided by Fed Ex to process shipments.

UPS has long been generous at helping out MAS90 users create real time interfaces to their free Crossware shipping program. The interface that UPS will provide allows for transfering of data out of MAS 90 or MAS 200 and into Crossware. After the processing is done in the UPS software, the tracking information is written back out to the MAS 90 or MAS 200 shipping information.

Louie (aka BigLouie on the Sagetalk or Sage Community Forums) offers this tidbit of information that he’s sharing with other users of FedEx’s own free shipping software.

As many of you know UPS has software called Crossware that allows the
user to pull MAS data into WorldShip and when finished to write the
shipping information back to MAS shipping data entry. Since FedEx did
not want to be left out our FedEx account rep had a technician
duplicate the same functionality. So now the FedEx shipping software
does the same thing. Like Crossware it was free and did not cost us
anything.

If any member of the group would like to have this for any client just
drop me a note and I’ll provide contact information for FedEx. They
will be able to provide your FedEx account rep with the programming
code. The code will need to be modified slightly since you might not
use all the fields we do and the DSN might not have the same name but
basically it is ready to go.

For more information, leave a comment below and we’ll do our best to help.

Louie has contact information for the technician at FedEx that created the link to connect MAS90 to the free FedEx software and write back the tracking number.

This is most suitable for larger sites who are already maintaining a free FedEx and UPS computer for dedicated shipping use.

Naturally there are third party solutions available (Starship is one) that handle all this integration for you. Some users prefer the free solution that the carriers provide because their shipping department is already used to working in the software and — well — it's free!

Hi, I would like to get some more information about this topic, we have been looking for ways to switch back to WorldShip and Fedex ship Manager, the change from those to starship has brought us nothing but headaches.
