This is a neat little tool: Excel Sheets Separator - “Are you still bothered by the cumbersome job of splitting multi-worksheet Excel files into single-worksheet ones? You may have created one too many sheets in Excel, and now you want to move the sheets to separate Excel files. Excel Sheets Separator is your right choice in simplifying your tedious Excel Worksheets Separation work. Excel Sheets Separator can divide an Excel file of multiple work sheets into several new Excel files each containing one of the work sheets of the original one. Excel Sheets Separator 2009.6 Office Tools software developed by Excel-Tool. ($50)

One situation with Sage MAS 90/200 where this could be extremely useful is for Visual Integrator (VI) importing. For example, lets say you receive an Excel file from your Vendor, and it contains 25 Sheets/Workbooks which represent 25 different invoices. To properly import you’d need to manually create 25 individual Excel files. Kind of a pain. But this $50 program helps to really automate the process. And don’t worry if the master Excel file contains a reference or VLOOKUP worksheet that all the other worksheets feed off of. The data in all the newly created Excel files stays in tact.

While performing Period End Processing, you may receive a warning about Data Entry in Progress for a particular module. For example, while closing Accounts Receivable, you may be warned that “S/O Invoice Data Entry is in progress”, or while closing Sales Order you may be notified that “RMA Receipts Data Entry is in progress”.

This does not necessarily mean that someone is currently logged into the system and entering data into that module. It can also mean that they have previously entered data and have not yet updated (i.e. run the Daily Sales Reports/Updates and updated, etc).

This will NOT prevent you from closing the period you are attempting to close. It is merely a warning that an associated module has some data that may affect the balances in the module you are closing, indicating that you should verify that the unposted data is not for the period being closed.

It’s a chance to clear out old accounting software transactions and start fresh with a new MAS90 year.

Year end also brings one time consuming task – namely Electronic Reporting for payroll tax filing.

Many states allow you to manually key in your payroll tax data – and this works well so long as you don’t cross the threshold (50 employees in CT) or have hundreds of companies to report.

The Magnetic Media Module for Sage MAS 90 and 200 will transmit federal data magnetically as well as most states. However many states have additional reporting requirements that the standard MAS 90 magnetic media doesn’t handle.

Electronic Reporting for MAS 90 and MAS 200

One of the 90Minds members, DSD Business Systems, have developed a huge collection of magnetic media reporting tools for the following states:

* APIC – A/P DE-542 Reporting for Calif.
* MRAL – Alabama
* MRAR – Arkansas
* MRAZ – Arizona
* MRCA – California
* MRCL – North Carolina
* MRCO – Colorado
* MRCT – Connecticut
* MRFL – Florida
* MRGA – Georgia
* MRHI – Hawaii
* MRIL – Illinois
* MRIN – Indiana
* MRKS – Kansas
* MRKY – Kentucky
* MRLA – Louisiana
* MRMA – Massachusetts
* MRMD – Maryland
* MRME – Maine
* MRMI – Michigan
* MRMN – Minnesota
* MRMO – Missouri
* MRMS – Mississippi
* MRNJ – New Jersey
* MRNM – New Mexico
* MRNY – New York
* MROH – Ohio
* MROK – Oklahoma
* MROR – Oregon
* MRPA – Pennsylvania
* MRRI – Rhode Island
* MRSC – South Carolina
* MRTN – Tennessee
* MRTX – Texas
* MRUT – Utah
* MRVA – Virginia
* MRWI – Wisconsin
* MRWV – West Virginia

Standard MAS 90 and MAS 200 Electronic Filing only submits files in a generic (yet widely accepted format. In order to submit to the states listed above – you either need to manually enter the information to review one of DSD Business System’s add-ons for Electronic Filing.

If you’re required to submit magnetically (consult your tax advisor as we are not in the business of providing tax advise and nothing on our site should be taken as such) – then you should head to the DSD site and review their extensive list of Electronic Reporting for MAS90 and MAS200.
