Sage MAS 90/200 Quick Tip from Zip: Excel Sheets Separator

This is a neat little tool: Excel Sheets Separator - “Are you still bothered by the cumbersome job of splitting multi-worksheet Excel files into single-worksheet ones? You may have created one too many sheets in Excel, and now you want to move the sheets to separate Excel files. Excel Sheets Separator is your right choice in simplifying your tedious Excel Worksheets Separation work. Excel Sheets Separator can divide an Excel file of multiple work sheets into several new Excel files each containing one of the work sheets of the original one. Excel Sheets Separator 2009.6 Office Tools software developed by Excel-Tool. ($50)

One situation with Sage MAS 90/200 where this could be extremely useful is for Visual Integrator (VI) importing. For example, lets say you receive an Excel file from your Vendor, and it contains 25 Sheets/Workbooks which represent 25 different invoices. To properly import you’d need to manually create 25 individual Excel files. Kind of a pain. But this $50 program helps to really automate the process. And don’t worry if the master Excel file contains a reference or VLOOKUP worksheet that all the other worksheets feed off of. The data in all the newly created Excel files stays in tact.

I also received a copy of the .M4X file of what I assume contains the demo Customizer/Scripts from Steve Malmgren’s 4.40 Webinar a few weeks ago. Don’t believe Sage has posted it yet in the PFC.

Sage MAS 90 and Sage MAS 200 – Keyboard and Navigation Shortcuts

Select the Help menu at top of the MAS 90 screen, then Help Topics.
Click on the Contents tab, then click Navigating Through the Software.
Then on the right, click Keyboard and Button Navigation.

Sage MAS 90 and Sage MAS 200 – “Shutdown All” feature

Be aware of a possible issue with the “Shutdown All” feature in Sage MAS 90/200. When it is used it may actually stay set in the SY_System file, so when a user tries to get back in, they can’t: They’ll enter their login info, the Business Desktop/Launcher will appear briefly, and then immediately will shut down.

Resolution: From ‘Data File Display and Maintenance’ (DFDM) in an accessible MAS 90 system (your Sage Business Partner may likely need to assist with this), pull up the SY_System file located in ..\MAS90\MAS_SYSTEM\. And flip the flag to N (Field 45 – Broadcast Shutdown).

Sage offering incredible maintenance savings for grandfathered MAS 90 or MAS 200 users

If your company started using Sage MAS 90 or MAS 200 prior to October 1, 2003 then read on – because there’s a promotion from Sage that you should take advantage of.

Sage is presently offering a bundle of software that they’ve termed the Sage Extended Enterprise Suite for MAS 90 and MAS 200.

This bundle is comprised of Sage MAS 90 or 200, SageCRM and SageFAS. Each of the products launches from a common menu and integrates with MAS.

Sage Extended Enterprise Promotion for Grandfathered Users

The following promotion is good ONLY for users of Sage MAS 90 or 200 who bought prior to October 1, 2003 and who are current on maintenance. It does NOT apply to any other users.

Here’s the offer:

Through the end of Q3 (June 30th, 2009), you can migrate existing MAS 90 or 200 “Grandfathered” customers to Sage MAS 90 or 200 Extended Enterprise Suite, and offer a flat, per-user annual EES maintenance fee of only $150 per existing user! In most cases, we have been finding that customers can migrate to EES and enjoy lower annual maintenance than they are currently paying! During tough economic times, this may be critical to customers who are struggling! Please make sure to highlight the following benefits when speaking with your clients:

1. Reduce your current annual maintenance and enjoy additional modules and features!

2. Manage your business more effectively with a complete 360 degree view of your business!

3. Streamline costs and enhance customer relationships with full CRM functionality!

This promotion would apply to Sage MAS 90 and 200 customers who purchased their system prior to October 1, 2003, and are currently on a “Grandfathered” status. Please note: the $150 per user fee applies to existing users only. Standard EES maintenance rates will apply to new add-on users. The promotion does not include maintenance on modules and extended solutions outside the EES product suite.

There is also a $500 per user license upgrade fee that is charged for anyone upgrading.

If you’re company qualifies, please talk to your Sage Business Partner and see whether it would be beneficial to upgrade your software to the new Extended Enterprise Suite. Depending upon what version of MAS 90 or MAS 200 your using there may not even be any data conversion required.

MAS90 Installation Guides Online

Installing MAS90 or MAS200? Sometimes (despite our reluctance to do so) referring to the help manual can be – well – helpful.

Sage publishes a fairly comprehensive set of user guides which provide installation tips for MAS 90 and MAS 200 versions 3.70 to 4.30.

MAS90 What’s New Guide

Beginning with version 4.0 Sage also began publishing rather detailed “what’s new” guides which they label as “Customer Upgrade Guide” or “Special Considerations for Upgrading”.

There are separate guides for both MAS90 and MAS200 as well as e-Business Manager.

Install MAS90 Yourself?

Perhaps the biggest question of when reviewing these guides is whether you should tackle the installation (either new or upgrade) yourself.

In general we recommend consulting with a competent Sage Business Partner (and, no, the use of the word competent isn’t to be funny).

There are many different issues that you’ll need to at least considering during an installation including:

Third party modifications (installing or upgrading)
User rights
Correct path for installation (MAS90 will throw a fit if you install to a wrong directory or map incorrectly – and this WON’T show up until sometime later when you’re live)
Supported operating systems
Integration of third party applications such as FRX, F9 and Crystal Reports
Best practices (setting up each workstation so it can share FRX or has access to Crystal Disks).
